As usual from BCN report: Out of the long report, following are of my interest. - report about a weekly modelwise sales (Christmas sales campaign) was omitted.
1) New DSLR sales since Aug 2007: EOS40D is leading here. (chart #1)
7 models have been introduced since Aug this year (launch date in Japan);
Aug 31-EOS40D
Oct 26-L10 (Panasonic)
Nov 09-Alpha700
Nov 23-D300
Nov 23-E-3
Nov 29-EOS-1DsMarkIII
Nov 30-D3
Maybe it'll be fair to add that D300/D3 have been just introduced recently that could be the reason why Nikon looks behind here. The difference will be smaller in due course of time when availability of the Nikon models are improved.
BCN says compared to the Big 2, Oly and Sony are strugling to capture the momentum. But again these two were introduced less than one month ago.
2) market share of dSLR in the last one year (Dec 2006 - Nov 2007): Dead Heat between the Big 2 currently on monthly basis (chart #2)
but it looks almost sure that Nikon gets the number 1 postion throughout the year. This chart includes all dSLR's - not limited to the new models
I omitted it but the best seller model has been continuously EOS400D (no change)
blue=Nikon, pink=Canon, yellow=Pentax, light blue=Olympus, purple=Sony, red=Panasonic
3) DSLR market growth: q'ty wise 200% and value wise 160% compared to last year (chart #3)
-the left bar=quantity growth, the right hand bar=value (monetary) growth
-on monthly basis between Dec 2006 and Nov 2007
-looks like the last year's average is set 100%.
I think I said this somewhere but don't you think this huge growth rate is incredible or absurd or whatever - especially in view of the gradually declining economy - at least in Japan though
.
BCN's question is "does it continue next year as well?"

I think Canon is fighting back hard now; the 40D is remarkably good value for money and the the 400D sales just keep on going. But the D300 figures should be interesting. It's a lot more expensive than the 40D of course.
