  • Pentax Plugcord recall

There's a recall of the plug cord for some models of Pentax cameras, including a few K10D models. (My own cord is one of those being recalled)

The plug cord is one of four types that were supplied with some Pentax Optio A20, Optio L20, Optio S7, Optio T20, Optio W20 and K10D cameras. To identify the cable in question hold the cable by the end with the 3-pins. Turn the pins to face away from you and look for a box containing the text "Approved BSI KM 45980" All affected cables also have a red fuse holder on the 3-pin plug. (quoted from the Pentax announcement)

Full details can be found HERE.

There's a number to phone if the recall applies to you. They'll take your details, send you a replacement cord and will include an envelope so you can return the recalled cord to Pentax.

Looks like the same as all the other cords that clutter up the place. I tend to use the same one for every unit these days. I have some with the original wrapping still on. Of course they won't be a super expensive ones like what Pentax use

Ah yes indeed. The Pentax cords are the ultimate in quality - apart from those few that were released from Nov 06 ... during the time a cheeky young Canonite was doing a bit of work experience in the factory.

We have one for every socket in the house as well as one for every vehicle. That's what happens when you have a camera for every day of the month y'see.

Seriously though - I gather there's only a limited number of them that need replacing. I thought I may as well get the replacement though. Keep 'em on their toes and also give the postman something to do.
