Being rather new to the world of slr I couldn't really place a vote based on comparison.
I do now have an 'is' lens and can see a great difference with hand held shots but I have no experience of the 'in camera is'

), the general consensus seems to be that if there is a difference it is marginal and the lens is pretty damn fine with or without OIS and is regarded as one of the best offerings from Canon! I would love one in place of my f4 non-IS version for sure!
