    dear all,

    Help

Today after too much time getting rid of dust spots in photoshop I decided to clean my sensor again. This i something I have done many times and never had an issue. I use a visible dust brush.

however today I have been left with smears / streaks on the sensor that show up at F32 and above. Now whilst I know this is a very small aperture, I do use it for macro.

So in summary can I get advice on how to remove smears from a sensor.

    Thanks

    Josh

Have you tried cleaning it with Eclipse fluid and digipads?

I seem to recall articles about the visible dust brush do say you may eventually have to wet clean if and when smears start to appear.

No. I think you are right though. looks like I will have to go for a wet clean method after years of using dry. I suspect my brush has come to the end of it natural life. determined not to panic. Its only smears (keep repeating to self)

      best regards

From the workshops I have seen, its suggested you can wash the brush in fairy liquid, making sure its totally dry before cleaning the sensor.
Now you have steaks it will be necessary to wet clean those, but then with a newly washed brush return to your normal cleaning regime.

Try not to worry too much. It took me ages before I plucked up the courage to clean the sensor on my original istD. When I eventually did pluck up the courage - it wasn't difficult and the results were so good I was kicking myself for putting it off for so long because I'd been was scared to do it.
