Re: 4/3rds: do the L1/D3 'imbed' the lens data in files?
My tests of the Leica 14-50 zoom compared the Olympus Digital Zuiko 14-54 show that distortion remains, but the distortion characteristics are different.
You can not eliminate distortion in a zoom lens - indeed, any kind of variable focus lens, even 'primes' and the same goes for corner shading as part of the corner shading factor is sensor itself.

Re: 4/3rds: do the L1/D3 'imbed' the lens data in files?
Hiya Ian
I've (badly) written about what was a funny thing!
[An Oly user asks leica about a feature Oly has implemented to get rid of any lens errors... and he takes the high-handed 'leica lens don't exhibit such errors' line.]
I've told him.. I said "there's a hostage to fortune if I've ever saw one!"... (before getting my dig in about the apparent lack of know-how in their implementing such a feature! :-))
It made me smile! I'll see what happens and see if I can post the full exchange just for the 'entertainment value'.
I still don't know if that was a funny quip or whether they just don't imbed this data? I've tried to scratch this itch for ages but no one knows...
