  • Are these for James Bond?

Can anybody enlighten me? I have difficulties in understanding why they (Komamura - known here for large format film cameras and photographic gears) develope these interesting cameras. Interesting but - who buys it? - Is is profitable enough for them? - Is it usable for photographers? -only for collectors?- lots of questions I cannot answer by myself.

Kindly do not regard this as accusation against these cameras - Being a camera lover, i do find them interesting. - but most likely I will never buy for myself. I think I have to save for my next PC/its peripherals/ or for another lens?

The first one, "Rollei", was announed just today. It looks like a TWIN lens reflection camera but actually only the lower lens works and has a digital sensor of 1.4Mp. So a DSLR. (the first two photos attached)

The second one, introduced in last December, is "digital M3" with 3.2Mp sensor and with interpolation they say it equals to 5Mp. The lens is 42mm in 35mm equivalent but not interchangeable.
Is this for those who are contemplating to get M8 but just hesitating because of the astronomical price? (the last photo)

They do seem an expensive joke.

I know Minox and Rollei make (or rather probably sell under their name) some truely underwhelming cameras. It's a shame that these great names don't make real cameras anymore.

Hi Yoshi, these are really toys for grown-ups. The ones I have seen a built to quite a nice standard, so they look OK and they will function as a simple camera, but it's all for the look and the novelty value, rather than the photography.
