    Hi Ian.....(or Julia! haha)

I am currenty using a standard photography bag (little handle, and shoulder strap) but have been looking at purchasing a rucksack potentially with space for my laptop. As when on all day photoshoots, I end up having to take the laptop in the seperate rucksack, which is a chore.

    Hope that answers your question.

    Cheers,
    Ben

    Re: Camera bags...

I use a Tamrac expedition8 to carry my gear in , it'll take 2 bodies 7 lenses a flashgun , waterproofs , and has numerous pockets for cards , spare batteries etc .
Trouble is it weighs a ton , so i stick it in the boot and transfer whatever i need to a lowepro slingshot 200 , which is very comfortable with a camera and 2 lenses .

      Re: Camera bags...

My current everyday bag is a Lowepro Slingshot 200. Its of the strap across the chest variety I suppose. I've tried all sorts, but apart from this ones somewhat restrictive size its the best type I've had. Shoulder bags, unless put them over your head, slip off the shoulder, backpacks are inaccessible most of the time. You have to take them off to get your gear out, then you are inclined to walk away from them . The Slingshot will fasten behind you when you need both hands free, then it will slide round to the side or front for easy access, and its with you all the time.

As for carrying a laptop, mine is too big and heavy so it lives in its own bag

Whats the USP of these Kata bags as a matter of interest?

As we're giving away a couple of Kata photographers rucksacks this month, I was wondering what everyone's fave type of is... rucksack, shoulder, strap across your chest, belt bag, etc.?

              Re: Camera bags

Sorry everyone - I rather messed this thread up!

I like rucksacks but prefer those that can change to a shouder strap mode and can be partially opened from the top.

I'll have to get a Kata R103 to try

                Re: Camera bags...

I have a rucksack for my istD and that's large enough to take all extra lenses apart from the Bazooka 170-500mm. It also carries a load of cards, flashgun, camera manual and Cokin filter holder (if I wish).

My K10D currently lives in a Lowepro Orion Trekker that can hold a couple of extra lenses + the mesh pockets for spare battery, cable release, manual etc. It's a handy bag for me as there's a top section (above the camera gear at the base) for purse, keys and other items such as maybe a snack, drink or whatever.

Best of all .... I have a personal assistant and caddy who acts as chauffeur. He's also my butler and chef. He's the Gert and I'm the tatty old bag.

                    Ian,

Even though us Okies don't qualify for DP Now prize awards , I find the Tamrac Adventure 6 compact backpack meets my need. I like the backpack style because of it being just large enough, having water bottle pockets outside, and being inconspicuous to the casual observer.

Hi Joe - that's not true, actually I try my best to de-restrict the prize eligibility from UK prize sponsors and several prizes were free for alls last year.

                        Hi Ian
I'm using a lowenpro mini trekker 200 rucksack as I often have to use my Motorbike to get out and about, as I only have a small amount of Kit this is ample for the moment
