  • Canon F1 whitewash?

One of the few magazines I subscribe to is F1 Racing magazine and in the latest issue there is a portfolio of pro shots from this year's Grand Prix season.

I noted with some interest that every single picture was shot using a Canon, most of them being EOS-1Ds Mark IIs, which again surprised me as I'd have thought the super-fast 1D Mark IIn would have been in a world of its own here.

One photographer, Darren Heath, notably continues to use film - Fuji velvia.

So, I ask you - where were the Nikon shots?

    Was it raining that day?

Maybe they didn't wanna get their Nikon wet .. so they grabbed a Canon instead.

        My D2X is waterproof .
But just about every sports event you go to or see on TV white lenses are very much on top .
News reporter and wildlife photographers seem to use D2H and D2X camera's much more .
Very proberbly it's horses for courses , the early Nikon digitals just did'nt have the fps that the Canons had ,so that once the sports events used them , they continued so .
The early IS lenses were again much better than the VR that Nikon produced , i just think that Canons of 5 years ago beat Nikon all round that once the photographers had them they never changed .
I've always been a Nikon man , going back 30 years now , but i've owned Canons as well as Olympus and Bronica , but mainly Nikon .
We're well used to Canon gear heads on other forums Knocking Nikons , it works both ways and i don't want to start a brand war , so i'll just say that every camera has it's plus points , few years back Canon held most of them , but i think it's leveling up a lot now .
