  • Olympus E5 - My first test images

I have already posted this on the E-Group forum so please accept my apologies if you already have seen this.

I received my E5 yesterday and decided to see how it performed. These images were produced to check ISO performance, colour reproduction and sharpness straight out of the camera (no post processing). I have a difficulty in that Adobe have not yet released a version of RAW converter so I could not use Lightroom for this test.
These images were uploaded to Olympus Viewer 2 (shipped with the E5). The RAW files were merely save as High Quality jpg alongside the jpg files from the camera. This is the best way I can think of to show you comparisons between jpg and RAW output from the camera.

I have deliberately keprt the sizes down to extra large to save people time.
If you want the oiginal size images, you can select them from my website by selecting O from the popout when hovering over a image.

    More to come later.
    Kind regards

Thank you for your reply Stephen. The weather has been awful today. I want to try it out with Macro and 500mm lenses too.
I seem to be confirming a review I had read. Noise at high ISOs does seem to have been sorted. The colour reproduction is superb. I am glad I had purchased it.
      Kind regards

        Hi Peter -

I haven't as yet had time to carry out similar tests on mine.

Thanks for doing so - the results look impressive.

We are promised fair weather tomorrow and I hope it is the same for you.
Looking forward to seeing more of your pix.

I must say I am pleased to see the camera has maintained the Olympus colours.

        Regards. Barr1e

Thanks Barr1e, I think we were in on the E3 from the start too. I have started saving again, this time for the E6 or 7

I only had a brief opportunity today and I had promised the e-group that I would publish some images today. I hate to break a promise.

If the weather is dry, I shall have a go with the Bigma and Sigma 150. Who knows, maybe even a movie
          Kind regards
