Did anyone watch the Gadget show on Monday?

They were comparing the new Canon Ixus, with a Sony and a Fuji.

The Canon ended up with only a 2G rating (out of 5G's....a bit like stars if your not familier witht he show) however, I got the distinct impression that the guy didnt really know how to use the camera! If my memory serves me, at no opint did he change the settings or anything, just used fully auto the whole time. When the pictures were presented afterwards, they seemd fairly pixelated, not what I would expect from a 10mp camera!

I did see the show advertised but when I saw that they were looking at cameras I decided to watch another program, as I have seen them review cameras before and they really don't test them properly, it's more as you say tested on auto as just a point and shoot from creative compacts to DSLR's.
Shame really they seem to test other stuff such as laptops and DVD players properly by using different settings and in different situations.

I think some of their reviews are very good, such as when they tested handheld GPS by being dumped somewhere remote and having to find their way to a certain point by using the devices and trying to be first back, which was using the device as it would/could be used, or when they tested laptops by running various software to see how the coped and taking them into different lighting conditions to see which has the best screen.

I think those types of reviews are very good as it's how the items would be used and can help make the decision on which to buy or at least what to look for when buying.

Never watch these prgrams, usually go on word of mouth recomends or Mag reviews, dropped a few clangers in my time but mostly works out.
