Its possible to buy AA rechargeable batteries, that give a long life.
How old is the camera that eats batteries, modern ones are much more efficient.

The main reason for using Lithium ion batteries these days is for compactness. Modern digital cameras no longer suck batteries dry in no time. AA NiMH rechargeables are very good value and if you run out of charge you can use readily available alkalines in an emergency. 2000 mAH or greater will last very well.

If you get 'long life' NiMH batteries, like Sanyo's 'Eneloop' brand, then unlike standard NiMH batteries you won't find they lose their charge over time even if they aren't being used.

In my Fuji S9500 I use 4 2800 batteries from 7 day shop:

Very good value. I have used them for years. Of course we always take a battery charger with us when we go on holiday. If you ordered 2 or 3 sets, you will always have spares.
