Which one is the best?

Hello!

This is my first post so I would like to have a little of your help choosing my camera.

I ask you this: If you had to choose between these two cameras the one that offers the best picture quality, wich one would you prefer?

Olympus SP-510 UltraZoom

or the:

Fujifilm Finepix S6500fd

imho I'd go with Olympus ..... Bigger sensor ... good ISO range .... Optical zoom.

I dont know the cameras, but I would take a close look at the reviews on www.dpreview.com

Hi, first post for me to. I have a S6000fd(N.Amer. name for S6500fd). I.Q. is excellent up to ISO800 and 1600 is OK in a pinch(3200- not so good).The sensor is larger than the SP510's (1/1.7 vs 1/2.5). Go to www.pbase.com and use the search function to compare user images for the S6500 and the SP510.

I've only used the Olympus - I found it a bit slow to use, but it has a remarkable specification and it's very compact. It's a much more advanced camera than the FinePix s56500, and includes moving sensor stabilisation, but the FinePix appears to have very good image quality. I thought the Olympus image quality was good, but not outstanding; probably a by-product of that enormous tele zoom range.

The FinePix S6000 also mentioned in this thread is a much bigger and bulkier camera, but very good with it.

I think you should also consider the Panasonic Lumix FZ-18; It's compact, responsive to use and although I have only used a pre-production one, image quality looks good. It has built in stabilisation (optical) as well.

Just to let you know that I've decided to buy the Fujifilm Finepix S6500fd (named S6000 in the US).

Of course there are better cameras than these two. But these where the ones I could afford right now. And the Fujifilm seemed to deliver the best price/quality deal.

Finally I wish to thank everybody for your valuable help. This was the Forum that teached me the most so far! What a delightful experience this was!
