    Re: Max capacity

I traipsed all the way into town to treat myself to a 32Mb ZX81 which was better than the 16Mb one ..... 'cos one of the lads told me the 'bigger' one could play Scrabble.

I traipsed back home again all thrilled and excited only to discover they'd sold me a 16Mb one packed into a 32Mb box. I traipsed all the way back again - did me nut in the shop and was told they were outa stock - so I got the money back.

Then the kids got an Amstrad and that was the point when our eldest turned into a dedicated geek. He still is - comes home to rescue me when I stuff things up.

The second son still plays "Dynamite Dan" too (via an emulator). Gimme strength ........

      Re: Max capacity

I also remember the ZX81, i won it in a competition, and swapped it for a commodore 64. on which I taught myself to write basic programs.
ahhh the days of DOS and having to write a command in before anything worked.
They do not know they are born with plug and play

        Re: Max capacity

Well I certainly led this one well and truly 'off topic'!

Sinclair's was a great company to work for, and their Christmas parties will stay in my memory for ever - don't think too many companies were hiring strippers at that time! (Or, as one of the younger members of the company and an ex-cage dancer in a Cambridge disco being invited to join the stripper - I declined!) And having to avoid the lift during parties..... and not looking under the billiard table... Or the more drunk members being taken into the carpark and chucked into the river.

The old factory is now a desirable block of flats - wonder if they've solved the flooding problem in the car park?

The first computer I bought for my kids was actually a Commodore 64, at the same time buying some refurbed BBC micros for the school. My son was a computer geek from the age of 5. Now, at 23, he's head of computer ops for a global credit card company in Germany but still hasn't built me my super computer.... (He's coming home for Glasto, but don't think he'll have the time ).

Followed the link posted by lumix - that really does take you back!

        Found this on Youtube - it's a bit long, tho. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8ihrqp5fGQ"]ZX Sinclair Spectrum 1983 Documentary - 1983 feature - YouTube[/ame]

Really enjoyed that. Some of those games were out of this world.

Now come on who is brave enough to admit to this. I purchased a computer book that had splashed all over it's cover that the programme inside would turn the ZX Spectrum into a super fast computer like no other. I spent the next two + hours typing it in and when all was completed gave the RUN command. To my amazement APRIL FOOL scrolled down the screen. Should have looked at the date on the cover.

Sorry Ron, not guilty! I only managed to get as far as very basic stuff - used to get books out of the library and type the programs in. One or two did keep the kids amused...

I have enjoyed reading all your posts from the past, and I am afraid I bought a C5 (second hand) and it was a right little goer if you put the work in with the legs The only problem was water, I got wet when it rained and you got an electric shock if you went through a puddle.

Anyway back to the topic in hand

I have a newer FX 01 from Panasonic which recommends the 512mb cards but I have been using the 1gb cards with no problems at all, and getting a lot more images stored before having to change cards. I would say you should have no problems but the card does outlast the battery 4:1 at least.

Hi Ron, Panasonic have just got back to me and they confirm SDHC (4GB and above) won't work, but 2GB standard SD cards should be OK.
