  • 250 bridge camera with 1248mm 52x zoom?

The building is, ironically, the top of what used to be the Kodak HQ in Hemel Hempstead (since re-skinned and converted to apartments) and I was 1.3km away using the 52x 1248mm equivalent maximum optical zoom, hand held! 1/750th @ f/6.4, ISO 100.

There is some loss of contrast and sharpness at 52x but (as in the example above) the image quality can be massaged a bit in PP. This shot also suffered from heat haze that you wouldn't see at shorter distances.

This is at 200mm equivalence - not much wrong here unless you pixel peep, although I did stretch the tonal range a bit to bring out the shadows.

Finally, at full wide angle (24mm). Again, shadow detail is there, you just have to bring it out.

For non-critical photography the AZ521 looks very promising.
