  • Samsung Galaxy Camera - Android-powered 'compact' camera

Just received one of these to evaluate. It comes in remarkably small box but in compact camera terms it's a very large device thanks to its huge 4.8 inch screen. That's not as large as the 5.3 inch screen on my Galaxy Note smartphone, but not far off and the same size as a Samsung Galaxy SIII. The entire back of the camera is a touch screen.

Has anyone here actually bought one of these or the Nikon Android camera alternative?

Frustratingly, there is a big blob of dust on the sensor - camera will have to be replaced!

What kind of price range is this, and what's the estimated battery life?

I'm eager to read your review. It's not something I could see myself buying in the near future, but I do wonder how usable it is. My current compact camera is smaller than my phone (but thicker, obviously).

I did use my iPod for some happy-snappy the other day when out and about, and the convenience of having Dropbox just automatically upload the photos as soon as I got home was the ultimate in cool laziness (usually photos stay on my camera until I can be bothered to plug it into my computer).

Surprised they can't get one of those "robot" thingies to wander over and wipe it off...

Wouldn't you have thought that "someone" would check it before sending it out for review.

Over Christmas, I did see all those Android tablets being sold by virtue of the app that shows the dog cleaning the screen by licking it. I'm sure that little pooch could turn around and lick the sensor clean for Ian...
