  • XZ-1 for once in a lifetime trip?

I would be interested in comments on taking an Olympus XZ-1 as the only camera on an upcoming trip to Ireland. I could take an OMD and/or a GH2 with an assortment of lenses but I don't want to deal with or carry an assortment of lenses. I have never been to Ireland and may never go again so what I would like input on is:

--Will I be happy with landscapes shot in RAW with the XZ-1?

--Will I wish I had the better low light/high ISO capability of the OMD?

--Will I be happy with the IQ output of the XZ-1 as compared to that in the OMD or GH2?

--Any other comments and/or considerations will be appr3ciated.

The main issue wit the XZ-1 is low light. If you have to bump up the ISO it does tell. The lens is super sharp though.

Personally, I think the OM-D E-M5 is small enough. I took one to Photokina and only brought the 12-50; hardly knew it was there

Thanks, Ian. The low light/excessive noise problem has been my experience with the XZ-1 also. It can produce brilliant images but the light must be good. So I think I'l stick with my original plan to take the OMD and the XZ-1 as backup.

To save on your luggage allowance if you have the grip you can leave that behind.

For a once in a lifetime trip take 2 cameras. Then you've got a backup if one has problems/gets dropped.
