Compact with Lens Control Ring

I'll be working at a "Sports event in Stratford" for the next few weeks and shall be taking a "Pocket" sized camera.

I really like the ones with the control ring around the lens, but there is a slight dilemma for me, being an Olympus user, I'm leaning towards the XZ-1, but I played with an Canon S100 and while it was a bit small, it was brilliant. The Sony RX100 seems pricey for what may only be a few weeks use and there is a chance that an Olympus XZ-2 may appear at Photokina.

Any thoughts - Anyone...

Yes, the Sony is not cheap. However, I am using it at the moment for Street Photography. Am pleased with quality (although waiting for the new RX1) and must say it is so pocketable it is fantastic as far as that goes. It is by my side in handbag or whatever, every day. I also like the automatic lens cover - apart from all the other usual controls etc. No, I don't work for Sony in any way shape or form.

The Olympus XZ-2 has a much-improved dual function and dual-feel focus/adjustment ring; click-stopped for adjustment mode and smooth stepless feel for focus mode - and we're giving one away at the end of the month

XZ-1 is a great camera for almost anything but questionable at a "sports" event if fast write time is important. I recently took mine to a polo match and it produced some very nice images but it could not be relied upon for rapid fire succesive shots. I hope the xz-2 improves on the write time.
