Re: My camera has been run over
Bad luck, Audrey - really sorry to hear that. And sorry to hear about your knee - it must be all very frustrating at the moment!
Weirdly, the only camera I have 'destroyed' is a similar one to yours - an FX8 that was on loan from Panasonic. I had misguidedly attached a Kodak wrist strap to it and this broke as I was chasing after one of the children who was in danger of falling into a nearby stream. The strap broke and the camera went flying and landed on concrete. The lens was extended and it seems that's where the impact hit hardest. Panasonic was very understanding - I still have the camera!
Inexpensive ultra compacts - I will have a little think and get back to you!

Re: My camera has been run over
Audrey's old Lumix was actually smaller than the Mju Tough and quite a bit lighter. Then again, it might have survived the test that her old camera failedOriginally posted by Graham_of_Rainham View Post

Re: My camera has been run over
Is it the one that was about the same size as the Leica C-Lux2. The one that Stephen and Kath had when they went on the cruise to Alaska? Ian
I'm not sure there's anything quite that small now - or is there, Ian?

Re: My camera has been run over
I thought it might be that same camera, which is a real shame because it's served you so well. I remember Kathy had taken a shot similar to one Stephen had taken with his Canon and he posted them both here to show there was very little difference between the pics.
You probably can't go far wrong with any of those Pannys. It'll be slightly larger but still small enough for a pocket and it'll also have quite a bit more reach. And whatever you can get from the insurance is gonna be useful, eh.
Hopefully you'll be able to have it before you go to India so you can have some time to handle it and try it out.

Re: My camera has been run over
I have a TZ10 and that's small enough for a pocket, though not as miniscule as the C-lux2 (which is probably about the same size as Audrey's now broken 'baby' camera).
The TZ10 is good fun. I use it for quick snaps like having the extra reach comparaed to the 'baby' Leica. I mainly use the TZ10 on intelligent auto or scene mode and it's a doddle to pull out and grab anything and everything.
I'd be devastated if my baby Leica was squashed though so I can well imagine how Audrey must feel. Those dinky 7.2 Megapixel ultra compacts were, still are, special little cuties.

Re: My camera has been run over
I must say I'd love to have a TZ-20 - it has Geolocation built in, plus the excellent extended range zoom. If that is not possible, the Panasonic FS range would do nicely.
