Isn't that what blokes say to shop assistants when they're buying "Love Actually" or "Dirty Dancing" DVDs..?

In my experience - some men buy presents for their wife when they really want it for for themselves. That's what my husband always did, knowing I wouldn't want it and that I'd hand it back in exchange for a box of chocs - until the time he splashed out on a Pentax *istD, handed it to me and was taken aback when I decided to keep it ..... and let him eat the chocolates.

I think I'm probably the only wife who was once given a secondhand amplifier for Christmas. That was a bad Christmas for him .... he ended up having to do all the cooking, in total silence.

Women can be very cynical about men can't they? I'm horrified that you'd think men were capable of such things, when in reality all we care about is the happiness and wellbeing of our partners...

I mean, what possible benefit would I gain from purchasing a skimpy underwear set for my girlfriend at Christmas? It's hardly as if I'm going to get any use out of them, is it..?

Naaah. What she really wants is a new ball of string for yours and Yorkie's belted macs. You two, with the manky string on yer macs, really lower the tone of my soup kitchen.

Hey Ian - if Julia throws the external HD at you, catch it and chuck it over to me. I'd be thrilled to get one of those from Santa.... then I could spend my own dosh on skimpy underwear for that cuddly Bear with the gorgeous eyes.

Ok. Never let it be said I'm cheap.

Now stop scratching - you're making it too hard for me to focus.

Ordered on Sunday, delivered on Tues (today) Now you can't complain at that.

Just put battery on charge, but first reaction is Wow, its small, but very intuitive to use and understand. Frankly there ain't much to understand, but no doubt I'll have to explain a few things when asked

Definately a sexy little camera though, and as I got the black version, there is a nice tactile feel to it in the hand

A quick tip for you, Stephen. Best leave the Mega OIS on most of the time (except if the camera is on a tripod or not otherwise being hand held) but also, use Mode 2 as although this doesn't show in the live preview, Panasonic told me Mode 2 (IS activates only when shutter is released - Mode 1 is constant IS) preserves optical image quality better as the 'wiggled' lens element is less likely to be at its extreme, off-axis, relocated position when the shutter is open.
