The Icefields Parkway runs between Lake Louise, north of Banff, to Jasper. It travels through the the Banff and Jasper National parks, and is one of those roads that I think you should travel along before you die. It is 144 miles of the most stunning natural beauty, full of majestic mountains, often rising vertically from the valley bottom. Not far off the road there are many beautiful lakes, unbelievable waterfalls and rock formations



If I'm honest we have not seen it as its best, although we have seen blue sky, the last couple of days have been changeable and many of the higher mountains were hidden in cloud. We visited the Peyto Lake lookout 3 days ago and were greeted by a snow blizzard



However on the same day we drove past Bow Lake and I took this photo



Peyto Lake then had to be revisited so the next day after driving up to the Columbia Icefields, we went back and the conditions were much better
