exactly, a new mother looks at the hospital picture of her new born. correct posing, lighting etc. i doubt it but initial impact, priceless.
we can pose, bracket the exposure, and even crop using the rule of thirds, but if it doesn't have impact or in the case of portraits, emotion, it's dead.
we do agree, the mechanics of photography must be second nature. you must be able to capture the fleeting moment be it expression or action on the film or sensor rather than watch in the viewfinder while making adjustments.
