This is an advanced course so things move fairly rapidly. After covering composition last week we moved on the Camera Settings and Exposure Values (Shutter speeds and their corresponding Aperture Values).

First we looked at the Auto and Semi-auto settings; what they did and we had to promise faithfully never to use them ever again.

Although the teacher did says that 'Night Portrait' mode could be useful!

Next, we looked at the Manual Modes i.e. Programs, Shutter Priority (S/Tv), Aperture Priority (A/Av) and Manual. I have learnt how to balance the exposure, change the shutter speed and aperture and refresh what I would use when. This together with F-stops and Focal Lengths and their relationships.

So I can change the shutter speeds, apertures, where the camera focuses in Manual Mode. I know when the camera thinks the photo is at the correct exposure and how to adjust. I also have a list of all the symbols inside the Viewfinder and what they mean.

As for the photos taking this week we had to use long shutter speeds to get a blurred image. Please bear in mind this is a 1970s college at 8pm on a wet Wednesday night. Here are my attempts:
