With my OU Maths course nearly finished I was looking for something else to do. Our local college offers a number of evening classes for adults including a few for photographers. The Camera & Studio Workshop - Advanced sounded interesting so I enrolled.
First evening was last night. There were 12 of us with varying degrees of experience and various DSLR cameras.
In the first week we covered Composition. Whether to shoot vertically or horizontally, Rule of Thirds, Leading Lines, thinking about your position, the position of your subject, what is in the background and natural framing. We had a chance to try out some of these ideas as well as looking at some photographs that highlighted them.
In later weeks we will be looking at the manual controls of the camera and using studio lighting.

The rule of thirds element showed through in your pix even before I read your blog!

#3Pol commented01-10-09, 11:19 AMEditing a commentI'll be watching too, Julia. I've always enjoyed your knack for making an interesting, sometimes intriguing pictures from the simplest everyday objects - those things that are all around us but usually ignored.
