My daughters were performing at a music concert at their school last night. In the theatre foyer there was a new sign requesting no photography, in addition to reminding everyone to switch mobile phones off. I hadn't noticed the sign, but Julia had and mentioned it to me. I was rather crestfallen by this news, so I resolved to find out what was going on.

I quickly found the director of music and politely asked about the sign. It quickly became obvious that she was concerned about flash use in the audience rather than anything more fundamental.

I had my Olympus Pen E-P2 with me and, as it happens, this camera only has a hot-shoe - there is no built in flash, and this news was greeted enthusiastically.

I was assured that I could go ahead and take pictures and the parting comment was - "And can you send me some?!"
