Above is a screen grab of Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 on the left and FireFox (right) web browsers displaying my entry for the current DPNow Salon contest. You should be able to see a difference, but there will be a bigger difference if you are viewing using Internet Explorer or another browser that is not colour managed.
The two popular browsers that ARE colour managed are FireFox and Apple Safari. As far as I know, Google's Chrome browser is not colour managed.
Viewed without colour management, the left hand, IE8, view has a nasty cyan cast. With colour management switched on (and you may need to enable this feature in your selected browser) the colour looks normal, as on the right, with FireFox.
This does create a dilemma, because something like two thirds of all Web surfers use IE. So, should you adjust your colour for IE or for colour managed browsers?
Is there a solution, and why is there such a colour shift in the first place? I'll be looking at these points in another update soon.
Have you experienced the Web colour shift phenomenon?
