  • Images in posts - some examples

The thumbnails you see were attached to this post using the Manage Attachments button you can find in the Additional Options panel when editing a new post. The first image was uploaded from my PC and the second was copied from another web page (only do this with permission please).

The image below was placed into the main text of this message using the Insert Image button in the message editor toolbar (yellow box with a mountain symbol in it).

I've also applied the 'centre' style to the image.

This option requires you to have uploaded the an image to some existing webspace. Please don't use this option for displaying images from other websites without the permission of the owner of that image and the owner of that website.

So - would I be correct in assuming the full image will only show inline, within the text, if it's linked from another website (or your own personal webspace)........ and images that are attachments from a local PC will appear as thumbnails that'll open in another window?

Yes, attachments are shown as thumbnails and inline inserted images are shown from other webspace.

That is a key difference between the old and new forums.

At the moment, there is no way (that I know of) to upload an image to be shown embedded in the text of your message.

Thanks - I thought that was probably the way things worked.

Thumbnails are ok by me for attachments. I can use my personal webspace if I want anything to show inline. There's always the likes of Photobucket too.

I see the function for managing/deleting our own attachments is also available .... so it's all looking great.

Good point Stephen. When we add PhotoPost, you will be able to upload your images to your gallery and show them in your forum posts as needed.
