Last week the National Trust started trial opening for some of their houses - 7 in total, but only 1 in the UK Midlands so I booked a slot for Tuesday and off we went. Despite being told to print our tickets, all we had to do was wave one of our National Trust membership cards at the steward in the car park and after that it was entry by giving your name.
Entry to the house was socially distanced queueing, and only the ground floor was open - so that's an excuse to go back for another visit! Lighting inside the house (or lack of it) was very poor, so I thought this would be a good time to try out the FV setting on the EOS-R. I soon realised that auto-iso was just going to bump it up to the maximum I've capped it at (12,800) so that promptly went back to manual setting. Even then, after processing the interior images in Lightroom I've had to run some of them through the old version of Nik's Dfine to try and reduce noise.
Outside, we opted for the 'long' walk round by the lake and I'm glad that we did because when we made our way into the gardens very little of that was open: possibly because the gardeners have only recently returned and they're obviously trying to protect them from the public.
The queue for the loos was long (one in, one out) and the refreshment truck - nah, didn't bother - I'd brought water and snacks in the car.
Now off to book next weekend's adventure 😃
