    Well done Caz

I am surprised no one entered any from the Jubilee thread, some great ones in there.

"Shocked and surprised" - Thank you for choosing my entry Gina, and glad that the competition received a late flurry of entries (mine included!)

I'll have a ponder on a new subject whilst driving up and down the motorway today.

Apologies for the delay folks, after a slow start I'm pleased to see a few entries and the results are as follows ...

1ST PLACE goes to CAZ - loved this image, a lovely memory of a British celebration, well done.

2ND PLACE goes to Barr1e - Typical weather but the Britsh just Carry on in spite of the rain and wind.

3RD PLACE is shared with everyone else who entered because without you all contributing something there wouldn't have been a competition. Special mention to Kurt for being the only entry for the first week and therefore deserving a special shout out.

    Over to you Caz ...

I actually managed to find a picture suitable for this contest! This is Wellington Street, where Canada's Parliament is located. The street is festooned with banners commemorating the Queen's jubilee.

Although it was cold and blowy, and drizzled as we walked down to the party, we managed to sit outside for our street party. About 70 people had said they were coming - 247 (about half the population of the village) turned up.

Have stuck with tradition, rather than entering one from the Diamond Disco my partner ran the night before - I have a rather fetching portrait of a couple dancing with one of my Freddy Mercury as the Queen posters behind!

Hi Pol, I know that place well, I live not too nfar from it and often ride through there on my motorbike, some nice roads around there!

Anyhow, here is mine to make up the numbers! A typical Bank Holiday scene quite common in Brighton, police everywhere! On the Monday (Jubilee day) when this was taken, there was meant to be a big family street party in the centre of Brighton. Unfortunately the EDL planned a march right past where it was happening so sadly it didn't go ahead, neither did the EDL protest but there were plenty of police about. Note the Union Jack thing on the forehead of the horse!

Sounds exactly like a British celebration, well an English one anyhow.

Sorry but this is the only photo I have from the Jubilee weekend, a grab shot from the pocket Panny. Having said that, it's certainly 'Very British' in that it was chucking it down with rain, yet again.

We were passing through Rotherfield village (East Sussex) on the way to the supermarket and already quite wet but the real deluge came just as left the shop to go back to the car. We got soaked to the skin ... yet again.

As I mentioned before I was tempted to submit this shot of watchers of the festivities. It was taken in London but unfortunately it was two years ago - the last time I was over there. In any event here it is. Clearly it isn't eligible for the competition but I wanted to share it anyhow.

Unfortunately this topic will have a very local appeal, and will leave many of us international photographers out of the loop.

"I will get my thinking cap on for the next Salon but it's a bit of a no brainer as it's Jubilee weekend"

When I read that I thought you meant you would not be announcing it until after the Jubilee weekend and so I didn't see your announcement until AFTER the weekend.

However, it never stopped raining here over the weekend, so I wouldn't have got chance to take anything anyway.

    Sorry Gina.
