I'm sure he'll have no problems Pol. As for LR, once he gets his head round the workflow routine, ie how it works, and how to use it, he's gonna love it.
I think so too - at least I hope so. He's also been doing a few RAW shots this week so it would be fantastic if he really gets stuck in with it all.
He's checked the link Ben posted and is now reassured LR should install and run no problem for him - so thanks again, Ben.
Wahey!! Gert shooting RAW and using Adobe! I was beginning to fear it might never happen!
Therefore - I've gone ahead and ordered him a copy of Lightroom and I'm hoping and praying it'll install on his new PC and laptop without problems 'cos I'd be very disappointed if he doesn't stick with it and get going properly with a digital darkroom skills.
Fingers crossed it'll all go smoothly and he'll get stuck in moving forward with it.

LR = Lightroom.
Many thanks for the link. I'll pass it on to him and I'm sure it'll be very gratefully received.
I'm not sure exactly what his various glitches have been as I tend to clear off whenever he's setting up anything new ...... and he does likewise whenever I have summick new.
If we reach the stage of potentially triggering off WW3, our eldest son usually steps in to rescue the situation.
As I understand it there should be absolutely no problems. The main issues with Vista seem to be with old hardware and their drivers, not new and current software. Are you experiencing some problems Pol?
Not me but David's been having various problems with his new Lappy and new PC (both Vista). He had problems installing the BB modem on the Lappy, yet it installed without problems on the new PC. He's also been finding some things work without problem on the PC but not on the Lappy, or vice versa.
David's finally decided to get going with PS or LR. He's been looking at a training CD which featured PS7 so I gave him my vs7 disc - but it wouldn't install and he flatly refused to let me de-activate my CS/CS2 from one of my own machines so he could try it and see what happened.
He finally went ahead and installed PS7 on his old PC (which is now up and running again) but it's not a good longterm solution imo.

If so - did CS and/or LR install without problems and is it running ok?

Acronyms! PAH
Should have no problems with Photoshop Pol, I have no idea what LR means!
(why do people use acronyms so much these days! laziness I say! )
I know one or two people that are running it on Vista with no problems.
I do know that as Stephen said sometimes older hardware may have driver issues though, but from what I understand companies are constantly releasing drivers to catch up with the technology.
A useful rescource I have found is the Microsoft Communities Newsgroups though, if you do happen to come accross any problems, a quick search here:
