  • Buzzard (I think!)

I've been trawling through some shots taken earlier this year while doing some backing-up today. I quite liked this one of a buzzard taken at Colchester Zoo. Odd how the eye looks sharp but the feathers are slightly blurred - almost looks like camera shake? The lens (Canon 70-300mm IS) was hand held @ 300mm and wide open @ f/5.6 - I would have expected a bit more DOF at that aperture?

I'd also be interested to know how the colours look to others as I'm non-calibrated at the moment. I upgraded my Huey to a HueyPRO (software only) but the upgrade process partially failed and there's no support available until Thursday

Surprised that no one's replied to this, unless they've done so privately...

The colours look fine to me - a beautiful bird.

The colours look excellent on my screen (Spyder2 calibrated) - I reckon you have them near enough spot on.

Cracking shot too. The eye is sharp so that's the main thing and the feathers could have been ever so slightly ruffled in the breeze or by slight movement of the bird.

        Cracking picture.

I've set it as my laptop background at 1900x1200 pix.

The green background really lets the 'birdy' stand out.
