    Hi Paul, I quite like the second one. It's a bit flat in tone, though, and the sky is washed out. The prevailing conditions, as you can see in the picture, do make it challenging for the camera. You could probably have benefitted from reducing the exposure to lift the mid-tones. A more ambitious move would be to plonk a blue sky from another picture to give it more dimension.

    Curious to know what kind of camera you are using?

      I'm using a D80, new to it, and all my pics that day the sky was washed out.

      Here's one from the other side.

        Hi Paul,

        The recent conditions have not been helpful. If possible I'd try to shoot in raw mode and under-expose rather than over-expose. This should enable you to selectively bring out more detail without washing out the highlights or flattening the picture.
