    Dear All
I want to love this image more than I am allowing myself to. Does the loss of an elbow and feet hurt this. I regret that I failed to include them but can I get away with it? Comments on any other aspects also welcome.
    Thanks to all

Well I love it Tom, and I don't really have a problem with the elbow or feet. There is enough to attract the eye, and of course those faces keep you mesmerised. TBH I think its a great composition, there is so much look at and smile about, so being pedantic about little things would be somewhat churlish

what fantastic happy faces, that should be shown around our selfish with everything teenagers.
I think you have the title exactly right.

I think you have captured this well, if an elbow was shown it would deflect from the closeness of the lads. at least you can see they are comfortable in each others company.

I was too busy looking at the faces to notice no feet, only because you it pointed out....

        Tom,

For me, this is a great photo.
I like the colors, the scenery and most of all the expression of these little guys you caught them with. The elbow and feet cut is a minor minus in comparison to the photo and the feeling it passes generally.
Would you prefer not to cut the elbow and miss the expression?

I'm as truthful as I can be and have to say that I just voted for your photo, giving you a 9, just because you cut (I assume not intentionally of course) slightly elbow and feet.

Another suggestion from me would be to desaturate the photo slightly as the kids skin and red fleece looks somewhat intense in color.

              Hi Tom

It is a very happy photograph.

I know what you mean about the loss of the elbow. I don't feel it is quite so bad for the feet.

When presented with such a happy group, sometimes (for me anyway) what I should be doing flies out of the window because I get too excited or nervous!

I am going to attach an image where I did exactly the same thing as you did. Like you I was so disappointed because of the missing elbow, but with a little help with Photoshop! Have a look! You are the only person I have told about this. I went on to win an award for it in our annual club competition.

I am sure you will be able to do the same and extend the canvas and then crop.

I like the lovely low angle with the colours set against the blue sky together with the children taken within their own environment. It is a beautiful record. (I am talking about your photo)

When I started to write this respone, no-one had replied, but I couldn't find my picture and then it was our mealtime.

Anyway Tom, elbow or not it is fantastic and I just love the saturated colours.

                  Re: Joy To The World

I viewed the picture before reading your intro - all I saw was a brilliant sky superb faces and demonstrative hands - did I see missing feet and an elbow - not until you pointed them out. It is of no consequence, its a great picture a pleasure to view.

I'll join the chorus and say what a lovely photo, and a brilliant title.

Like Martin, I looked at the photo first and then read the caption. Like him, I didn't notice the absence and think it's a beautiful image.

                      Re: Joy To The World

I'm honestly touched by the positive comments on this one and delighted that there was enough nice things to keep your eyes away from the elbow and feet areas. I remember though, with this one, ensuring that the building on the right was included in the frame. I think I was trying to fill the frame too accurately and missed the other two sides.
On trips like this I normally take loads of shots, rarely giving each one the attention it deserves and then trying to catch up with my daughter before she gets a little impatient. At the end of this trip she bought herself an E500, so next time we travel, both of us will hopefully dedicate more time to the business in hand.
Autumn you shot features so many happy faces and it is fun checking out each individual and their personalities. I'll have a go at fixing my elbow.

I'm chipping in a little late here, but I'd like to echo the thoughts expressed by many of the others; this shot works beautifully as a whole and is significantly better than the sum of it's parts. Any minor technical shortcomings are rendered inconsequential by the vibrancy of the colours and the joy exuding from those faces.

You have an eye for this type of thing and as far as I'm concerned, this photograph is complete. Stand back, leave it alone and enjoy it

Hi Tom, firstly I would just like to say that you have nailed this one good and proper!
The fact that you have not got the feet and one elbow, is like saying ' oh waiter can I have an extra grain of pepper on my steak' It does not matter

Straight away your eye is drawn to the boy's faces, and wow what an uplift of joy this gives!
They probably dont even no what a playstation is, hardly ever watched tv, if at all, and there tea is probably gunna be rice for a change! But still they are joyfull!

The colours ,contrast & exposure are spot on, well done.

                            Dont change anything.
                            cheers
                            Ash.
