Mmm I would be interested to know what work was done to the image Christian, especially if it was anything more than just Levels adjustment.

I really like the texture of the water in this shot, I get the feeling of movement maybe caused by a slowish shutter speed. I love the colours too, nothing jars the eye, it is all very gentle, in terms of colour, tone and movement.

The Poles are what we refer to as Groynes, they can make a great focal point for an image, I did wonder however if the cluster of 4 'poles' was a little too central to the scene, but then realised the single one did balance that out. Overall a very simple but pleasing shot

      Re: Poles

      Hi,

The picture has atmosphere but I can't help thinking that composition would be better is taken from lower down. Of course this may not have been possible without getting very wet.

Also the crop is a little too tight for me. I like seeing where the objects are. if that makes sense.

      Best Regards

        Hi
        thanks for comments,

lower was not possible...then will be in the sea...

most of the work was done in nikon capture nx, a little of of this and that. in photoshop >> dodge, burn, and i run one of my action to add some colour cast/duotone and resize.

i did not wanted to go too wide as then will show the horizon.

          Re: Poles

The lighting, colours and textures of the scene, complete with the wind-blown and agitated sea are very pleasing to my eye.

Beautiful 'golden' light with glimpses and spaces showing beneath the main support of the groyne too, adding to the '3D' feeling of actually being there.

Byrt the first thing I do when I see an image is to start wanting to change things. This picture of yours is really annoying me as I can't find anything I would change. I like it just as it is. We must have very similar taste.

uuhmm im a bit confused with your comment? sorry, you say

can you explain a bit more? also there was not much room to get another shot as i was very limited in space. I explain, if i was lower i will in water and if i shot it with a wide angle i will getting the horizon which will be extremely distracting to the overal photo.

Im trying to give the sense of calm with the rich colours as well the movement of the water.

we are here to learn, sorry if i sound a bit rude or direct, English is not my first language. sorry.

this is the best form of learn photography as most poeple in forums are in here to learn. Im also here to learn and share and make some new friends.

I've been noticing how your English has been improving extremely well over the past 2-3 years and continues to get better and better as time passes.

You don't sound rude or direct - so don't worry, you're expressing yourself clearly and using excellent English (almost as good as Irma's English).

chryslerchick may reply later but what she says, briefly, is that she's a "newbie 2 photography" (translated means ... new to photography 'newbie' = beginner) so she doesn't feel confident enough to give "indepth" constructive comment (in-depth = considered and detailed, constructive comment = helpful, comment)

She describes the water as "having a silky warmth about it" - meaning it is looks like warm silk, (a smooth, warm, silky atmosphere) and she also says that it has a "calming feel to it" - meaning it conveys a calming atmosphere, a calming ambience.

Therefore - you succeeded in giving "the sense of calm with the rich colours as well the movement of the water."

She also says she would be interested to see the scene from different angles, she'd enjoy seeing different perspectives of the scene.

I hope that helps, hope it's what you were asking. Please feel free to continue asking for any English language help or explanations too.

Good post Pol. I considered Chryslerchicks comments very honest and her feelings regarding the image are pretty similar to my own.

a perfectly judged shutter speed to get that movement in the water without it becoming too milky.
