Re: Model @ Focus 3
First of all you have achieved a well balanced exposure. Being that this was taken with a set lighting arrangement, you had no control over and a model that was not under your sole direction and looks like she has something else on her mind, I think you have done well to get any of these shots.
The composition is gravity defying and as such looks somewhat strange, but bold, constructions can sometimes work well. The real problem I have with this image is the distraction that the striped legs present. They keep drawing the eye away from the far mor attractive areas of the image.
There is also a dark area in the crook of her left arm that is hair & shadow that draws attention as does the shadow on her right arm.
The overall high contrast against the black background accentuates the red and black of the subject, with only a few small areas where the edge of the subject blends into the background.
For me a square crop taking out the legs presents the image as a more graphic image that would lend itself to a CD cover (maybe latterally inverted)
Considering the conditions available to you, I see this as a good photo that I would hold onto if I were judging it in competition.

Re: Model @ Focus 3
Initially the pic is automatically eye catching because of the bright red....being the first thing the eye sees. Then the socks & ribbons etc on the striped stockinged legs seem quite a juxtaposition to the bright light & very fair skin of arms & face! A novel take on a bit of Burlesque.Jocelyn
