I was infected with either a virus or spyware earlier today. I was able to use system restore to get to where I am functioning again but I do not believe all is well. I ran adaware, Norton and spybot. Spybot had some artifacts that it could not remove. Norton found two entries. I have yet to reboot for fear that the malware will reappear. I need desperate help. Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Infected plz help
Seem to be having a rough time Preston, however you never acknowledged the help offered with IE yesterday. It was suggested that you had the Cool Web Search (CWS) Trojan, you need to get rid of it before anything elseOriginally posted by preston View PostI was infected with either a virus or spyware earlier today. Re: Infected plz help
How much of a hassle would it be to just re-install Windows?
If you had a a possible trojan yesterday, and potentially further problems today, I would suggest the safest thing would be a re-install. Especially if you are into e-commerce, buying online or anything that involves you entering personal/credit card details.

Ed's note: We suspect Robart and preston are one and the same and, technically spamming. So the link below has been disabled until we are sure that this is not the case.
Download any free anti-spyware program that can help you to remove the infection.
I recommend you to download the free program called Spyware sweeper from ****************** This will manually remove the spy ware, which is hijacking your browser. You would find detailed instructions at the site.Last edited by Stephen; 23-06-07, 09:54 AM.

Re: Infected plz help
Robart, interesting that you use the same Asia Pacific Internet service provider as 'preston'.
I sincerely hope you are going to not start plugging a commercial product, especially one that doesn't have a direct relevance to the subject of this forum?
