If you haven't updated JAVA to version 7 update 13, it seems better to do so right away. When you allow automatic updating to JAVA, then it's unnecessary as it must have been already done automatically by now.
The vulnerabilities of the previous update 11 are unofficially said to be the possible causes that allow a group of millitary hackers in Asia to attack Wall Street Journal, New York Times and Twiiter last week and stole personal info of 250K persons from Twitter.
When you do it manually, just delete an older update before you install the new one.
