I don't know if Amateur Photographer (AP) magazine's editor, Damien Demolder, was inspired by this blog three weeks ago, but in the latest edition of AP he joins me in questioning the value of the latest round of TIPA industry awards. He used the same example that I did concerning the award made to Panasonic's new Lumix G2 camera, a camera that is still not yet available to buy in Europe, a month after the TIPA awards were decided.
DPNow is not affiliated with any industry awards body, but Amateur Photographer actually is - with EISA, TIPA's arch rival. Damien believes that EISA awards are more relevant because the awards process is more transparent. But he makes the very salient point that if TIPA awards are not decide responsibly, all photo industray awards will be tarnished.
