What is Livedrive?
So what is Livedrive, why is it so useful and how does it work? Livedrive is available in two flavours, but fundamentally the service offers unlimited storage for your computer files, including camera images of course, via the internet. The bandwidth, or speed at which you can access and upload your files over the internet, is also unlimited. Livedrive software lets you choose which folders to replicate in your Livedrive online space and it will automatically monitor and update your backed up folders to keep them synchronised with your local folders. Livedrive is compatible with Windows and an Apple Mac version is now being tested publicly. You can also access your Livedrive files using an iPhone or iPad.
As we mentioned, there are two levels of Livedrive service. The basic service is called Livedrive Backup and the extended service, which incorporates all the features of Backup, is called Livedrive Briefcase.
Simple yet powerful backup
Livedrive Backup is a very easy to use (yet powerful) online backup solution. You choose which folders you want to backup, and Livedrive Backup will work in the background to protect the contents of those folders while you work. You can set it up and forget about it.
Briefcase flexibility
Livedrive Briefcase is a flexible and innovative access-anywhere product, that lets you access your files wherever you go, and see the same files on all of your PCs. Livedrive Briefcase will change the way that you view files – no longer are they static objects on one computer, but they go with you wherever you go and you never need be without them again.
And it’s not just about storage and simple file accessibility. You can view photos and stream video and audio from your Livedrive space straight to your phone or mobile device. With the new App for the iPhone and iPad, Livedrive briefcase users can stream videos in any format straight from their Livedrive account to their Apple device. Enhanced features with Livedrive Briefcase mean you can also enjoy the flexibility of editing documents, including photos, online.
Make your data secure as well as universally accessible
With Livedrive you not only protect your data from unexpected PC storage failures, but you make them accessible from anywhere there is internet service. And with Briefcase you effectively have an extra hard drive, complete with a drive letter, connected via the internet.
