The Dimage Z3 is compact and lightweight four megapixel camera and yet it packs a remarkable 12x zoom lens covering the equivalent focal length range of 35-420mm, bringing distant subjects right in. Helping to ensure your pictures are as sharp as possible throughout the zoom range is Konica Minolta's unique moving sensor anti-shake image stabilisation system.

You also get full creative control, with both fully automatic and manual settings to suit your preference. A comprehensively laid out live status display overlays the Z3's eye-level electronic viewfinder. Multi-point and spot focus autofocus is available, both in single shot and predictive continuous focus mode. Manual focus is also provided. If the 420mm zoom wasn't enough, a super macro mode enables the Z3 to focus down to under half an inch.

A built-in pop-up flash is at the ready whenever you need it and to underline comprehensiveness of the Z3's abilities, you can also attach a full-size external flash unit. Meanwhile, the Dimage Z3 is capable of producing sharp and smooth movie recordings with sound. Maximum movie recording resolution is 640x480 (VGA) pixels and frame rates up to 30fps are supported.

Here at dpnow we have been testing a Z3 for several months and our full in-depth review will be published soon. We certainly like the Z3 – its anti-shake system really works and we were impressed at how well the Z3 kept subjects, like cars, moving towards the camera both steady and in focus. The Z3 is both small and light enough to fit in to modest sized bags and yet its ergonomics aren't overly compromised by its diminutive dimensions.
